According to a study from travel insurance comparison site InsureMyTrip, some cities out there are more romantic than others. In other words, there are certain places out there where the air is heavy with love and romance and makes your heart skip a beat, and others that just…don’t inspire any lusty feelings at all.
In the study, the cities were ranked using online data for categories like “popularity of location for honeymoons and marriage proposals,” “price of accommodation,” and “quality of romantic hotels and wine bars.”
The popularity of locations for honeymoons and marriage proposals was assessed using the number of Instagram posts for #honeymoon (sample of 54,190 posts) and #isaidyes & #proposal (sample of 22,328 posts), respectively. Other data was collected from sites like Airbnb, Booking.com, and Google Maps.
And so, without further ado, these are the top 10 most romantic cities in the world.
1) Paris, France (obviously)
2) London, United Kingdom
3) Santorini, Greece
4) Barcelona, Spain
5) Ubud, Bali
6) Prague, Czech Republic
7) Montreal, Canada
8) Lisbon, Portugal
9) Edinburgh, Scotland
10) Vienna, Austria
On the other hand, these are the top 10 least romantic cities in the world:
