Olivia Munn to Return as Host on Relaunched G4 Network

Actress, model, and fan-favorite host of G4’s Attack of the Show Olivia Munn is set to return to the video game-centric network when it relaunches in 2021. The news comes after fellow G4 alum Adam Sessler possibly teased that his hosting duties at G4’s X-Play will be restored by reprising his role of “Crazy Adam” in an open casting call for new talent.

Citing inside sources, the Wrap reports that Munn is “in final talks to sign a multiyear deal with G4.” The deal includes on- and off-air tenets, as well as the development of a new show. More details will be known soon, when the Oliva Munn G4 announcement is made official.

Attack of the Show proved to be a launch pad for beloved G4 girl host Munn, who successfully parlayed her initial fame into a successful acting career with starring roles in in Aaron Sorkin’s HBO series The Newsroom and Ocean’s 8, among movies and television shows. Following her departure from G4, she was replaced by Candace Bailey alongside longtime ATOS co-host Kevin Pereira.

Looking at the explosion in the popularity of e-sports and general gaming culture over the past half-decade, the folding of the original G4 in 2014 seems curious. Deadline notes that the network fell victim to unwise decisions likely made by corporate suits. It was originally set to be featured on the now-defunct Esquire Network, but was canned in favor of a “Style” slot.

Hopefully G4 will be here to stay upon relaunch.
