This year hasn’t exactly been the most accommodating time for travel, but as life finally begins to get back to normal, adventure-hungry folk around the world are already starting to plan their next big getaway. And in case you need some travel inspiration, allow me to put Iceland’s striking Sky Lagoon on your radar.
Opening next spring, Sky Lagoon is Iceland’s brand new oceanfront geothermal retreat that promises to relax and rejuvenate, while allowing “guests to connect with mind, body and spirit through the radiant powers of geothermal waters while taking in such impressive ocean views.”

To bring this geothermal lagoon to the next level, the property will even have a one-of-a-kind swim-up bar. You seriously can’t find something like that anywhere else in the world.

The design of the lagoon was inspired by the cinematic landscapes of the picturesque country, and will have a 230-foot infinity-edge to seamlessly blend it into the panoramic ocean backdrop. And obviously, since this is Iceland, other breathtaking views will include watercolor sunsets and sunrises, as well as the legendary Northern lights.
Other elements of the property were influenced by Icelandic culture to create an authentic experience modeled after Icelandic turf houses and their spa-like ritual. “Spending time relaxing in natural geothermal waters is an integral part of our culture here,” says Dagny Petursdottir, the general manager at Sky Lagoon.
