Rapper, businessman and 2020 Presidential hopeful Kanye West launched an unhinged Twitter tirade on Tuesday in which he appears to piss on one of his 21 Grammy Awards.
After proclaiming that he was freeing himself from Universal Media Group and Sony/ATV Music Publishing, West posted a video himself urinating on the gramophone-shaped trophy that was captioned, “Trust me… I WONT STOP.”
The Jesus Is King music mogul, who has bipolar disorder, also accused the music industry as a whole of acquiring artists’ rights with predatory contracts, leaving them to generate assets via “fame, touring and merch.”
“When you sign a music deal you sign away your rights. Without the masters you can’t do anything with your own music. Someone else controls where it’s played and when it’s played. Artists have nothing accept the fame, touring and merch,” he wrote in one tweet, Fox reports.
“We’ve gotten comfortable with not having what we deserve … they allow us to have a little money from touring get some gold chains some alcohol some girls and fake numbers that feed our egos … but we don’t own our masters,” he added in another.
The uptick in good ol’ Kanye West’s Twitter activity also included 114 individual screenshots of a Universal contract and the doxxing of a top Forbes magazine editor in a now-deleted tweet. NBC notes that publishing personal details such as a phone number or home address is a common type of online harassment. Twitter and most other online services ban the practice as a violation of privacy.
