As most of us know, baklava is one of Turkey’s most famous and decadent desserts, made of layers upon layers of delicate phyllo dough that’s packed with chopped Antep pistachios and a ton of butter, topped with a luscious honey syrup.

The dessert dates back to the Ottoman Empire where it was created in the imperial kitchens of Istanbul’s Topkapı Palace to be served to the Sultan, royalty, and the very wealthy. Though those days are long gone now, but you can still get the royal treatment at the Shangri-La Bosphorus thanks to their noble Baklava Butler.

The Baklava Butler is dressed in traditional attire, and meets guests in the hotel’s tastefully appointed Lobby Lounge or IST TOO restaurant. The dessert-wielding butler comes to your tableside with a cart of fresh baklava and a block of Maraş ice cream — a traditional Turkish ice cream made with salep, or a fragrant powder made of orchid bulbs — and expertly crafts the perfect plate for you.

The baklava is baked to order from a specialty shop in Gaziantep, which happens to be Turkey’s Pistachio Capital. Unlike many other types of baklava, the bakers in Gaziantep forego cinnamon, rosewater, or any other extra fillings so that you can really experience the flavor of the pistachios.

And if you want to take some home with you, you can purchase individual boxes at the hotel for ₺250 TL, or about $33 USD.

You can book your stay at the Shangri-La Bosphorus right here and experience the Baklava Butler for yourself. Trust me when I say you won’t regret it. Baklava is amazing.
